Orlando offers a wealth of activities beyond its famous theme parks, but there's no denying that it holds the title of "The Theme Park Capital of the World."
Naturally, Walt Disney World Resort is the epicentre of it all. Spanning 47 square miles, it is home to four iconic theme parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. Plus, Disney’s immersive water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, provide even more fun.
However, not to be outdown, Universal Orlando Resort is now a fantastic destination all on it's own. Featuring two thrilling parks: Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, including the magical “Wizarding World of Harry Potter.” The area also boasts Universal CityWalk, a vibrant nightlife district, and Volcano Bay, an incredible water park. Universals' newest theme park, Universal Epic Universe, opens in May 2025 - so there is even more Universal fun to be had!
Longboat Key - 3 nights
Located just north of Sarasota on the Gulf Coast, Longboat Key is a tranquil barrier island known for its peaceful and slower pace and beautiful beaches, offering a perfect retreat for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Orlando. The soft sands and crystal-clear waters create an ideal spot for sunbathing, swimming, and beachcombing, however you will also find plenty of water sports such as kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing to keep you entertained. The beaches on Longboat Key tend to be less crowded than those in more tourist-heavy areas, providing a peaceful and relaxing environment.
The island is lush with natural beauty, featuring mangroves, dunes, and wildlife. Visitors can explore the many nature trails and parks, such as Joan M. Durante Community Park or Quick Point Nature Preserve, which offer scenic views and opportunities for birdwatching, hiking, and enjoying the native flora and fauna. The island is home to a variety of wildlife, including manatees, dolphins, and sea turtles, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers.
Though peaceful and laid-back, Longboat Key offers a selection of fine dining and casual restaurants, many of which boast waterfront views. Popular spots include The Dry Dock Waterfront Grill for seafood, The Lighthouse Grill, and Chart House. For shopping, you can visit St. Armands Circle in nearby Sarasota, a charming area filled with boutiques, art galleries, and cafes, providing a more upscale shopping experience.
