Florida's Gold Coast holidays - Family-friendly, eclectic and vibrant
Although the name originates from tales of gold retrieved from shipwrecks along the coast, the shimmering beaches and wealthy neighbourhoods make this Floridian jewel glisten. Blending quiet bays with lively beachside cities, there is much to see and do in this region.
Gold Coast Overview
Stretching all the way from St Augustine to Vero Beach, Florida’s North Gold Coast sits alongside the Atlantic Ocean and offers a huge variety of destinations. Families are sure to love this fun-filled coastline, home to the fascinating Kennedy Space Centre and vibrant Cocoa Beach, well-known for its excellent surf and cool shops. Daytona is a great spot too, giving you the chance to drive along the sand with the ocean as your backdrop.
St Augustine is steeped in history, which is quite rare for Florida, and there are plenty of museums and landmarks to explore including Castillo de San Marcos. Meanwhile, Jacksonville is another fabulous beachside town, boasting fun outdoor activities including volleyball, golf and fishing.
The South Gold Coast is a wonderful amalgamation of vivaciousness and tranquillity, what with the calm waters of Palm Beach and the bright streets of Miami Beach being so close together.
Palm Beach is best known for being a playground for the wealthy. Take a walk along Worth Drive where you will find fabulous shops and trendy restaurants set amongst mansions and museums. Fort Lauderdale is famous for its beaches, arts, culture and events, from shopping on Las Olas Boulevard to gondola rides on the canals.
Miami Beach is everything you've heard about, but you have to see it for yourself. Take an Art Deco tour to discover the area's signature architecture. The South Beach Art Deco District is a magical collection of architecturally protected buildings from the 1930s and 40s, and it’s one of our must-sees.
