Things To Do and Excursions in Palm Springs
San Jacinto Peak
The highest peak in the San Jacinto Mountains, San Jacinto Peak is a must-see when you’re in Palm Springs. The views from the top are spectacular and you’ll be able to take in amazingly clear views of the Coachella Valley below and the Salton Sea. The trail is easy to navigate and you’ll be able to see Palm Springs from an entirely different viewpoint.
Cultural Attractions
Palm Springs’ retro vibe carries through into the art and culture scene too, such as the 26ft Marilyn Monroe sculpture which serves as a unique photo opportunity. If you want to see some more of the area's unique artistic roadside attractions, be sure to check out the Cabazon Dinosaurs which are novelty sculptures standing some 50ft high – they’re just a short distance from the west of Palm Springs and immediately visible north of Interstate 10. There’s also the Palm Springs Art Museum, the Air Museum and the Walk of Stars, featuring ‘Golden Palm Stars’ in the pavement of Palm Canyon Drive.
Living Desert Zoo and Gardens
This desert conservation area is a great day out for families, with plenty of fun activities to enjoy such as picnic spots and aviaries. There are numerous animal exhibits, where you’ll have the chance to see bobcats, jaguars and mountain lions, as well as gift shops, gardens and food outlets.
